Notes about Artemus Bruce Larrabee

The Forming of Our Children Vol 1

Pg 34

ARTEMUS BRUCE LARABEE was born about 1774 in Stevenstown, NY to Eleazer and Sarah (Hall) Larrabee.3 He was probably their youngest son, as it was arranged in his father's will that if Artemus would care for the elder in his old age, he would leave Artemus the family farm, as was typical of arrangements with the youngest son in those days.

At about the time of his father's death (abt. 1800), he married OLIVE ROSE of the same area. She was probably born about 1780 in Stevenstown, NY and was a daughter of Nathaniel Rose. Artemus and his family stayed in and around his hometown until the late 1820 's. About 1827 Artemus moved his family to St. Albans, VT. Within ten years after moving there, the family moved a short distance to Underhill, VT. They could possibly have moved back to St. Albans after a short time in Underhill though, because on 23 February, 1845, Olive died in St. Albans, VT and was buried in the Greenwood Cemetery. Artemus then moved in with his daughter Olive and her husband in Cambridge, VT and it was there that the old miller died in the 1850 's. The children of Artemus and Olive (Rose) Larabee:
1. Artemus poss. m. Eliza Weeks; poss . d. August, 1843

3. Female b. between 1810-1815
