Gerard Blom werd geboren op 26 februari 1928 aan de Smedestraat nummer 6 zwart in Haarlem. Vanaf 3 juli 1928 verhuisde het gezin naar de Spoorwegstraat 4 rood in Haarlem en vanaf 1931 naar de Casteleynstraat 11 in Haarlem. Op 15 september 1945 vertrok hij naar de priesteropleiding in Missiehuis Avé Maria in Tilburg. Op 29 augustus 1950 trad hij toe tot de Congregatie van de Oblaten van Franciscus van Sales. Op 26 juli 1956 werd hij tot priester gewijd in Nijmegen.
Op 19 augustus 1956 droeg hij zijn Eerste Plechtige H. Mis op om 10:15 uur in de Parochie Onze Lieve Vrouw Rozenkrans en Heilige Dominicus (Spaarnekerk) te aan het Spaarne nummer 99 te Haarlem. Van 1956 tot 1960 was hij leraar geschiedenis op het kleinseminarie Avë Maria in Tilburg. Van 1960 tot 1968 was hij verbonden aan de St. Martinus parochie te Groningen. Daar is hij eveneens afgestudeerd als Drs. geschiedenis aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen.
Van 1962 tot 1968 was hij werkzaam als tijdelijk invaller Pastoor in Burgdorf-Aersen in Duitsland. Daarna kreeg hij als pastoor van 1968 tot 1973 een eigen parochie in het Katholisch Pfarramt St. Benedikt in Lauenstein in Duitsland. Van 1973 tot 1985 was hij als pastoor verbonden aan het Katholisch Pfarramt St. Martinus in Nörten-Hardenberg in Duitsland. In 1986 verhuisde hij naar het verzorginshuis St. Augustinus in Hennef-Altenbödingen waar hiju op 17 februari 2013 overleed.
Hij is op 26 februari 2013 begraven op de R.K. Begraafplaats Broekhoven, Prof. Lorentzstraat 26, 5021 NS Tilburg. Hij was ook jarenlang biechtvader voor bedevaartgangers in Lourdes.
