Notes about Gerardus "Gerrit" Blom

Gerardus werd op zaterdag 13 januari 1870 om 03.30 uur geboren in het huis op nummer 92 in de Haarlemmermeer. Als hij 5 jaar oud is overlijdt zijn moeder (1875) en wordt hij tijdelijk ondergebracht bij zijn oom en tante -Jan Spigt en Sophie Nol`- (zuster van zijn moeder) eveneens in de Haarlemmermeer.
Op 22 juli 1878 vertrekt hij naar Haarlem, waar hij wordt ondergebracht bij zijn oom Gerrit (een broer van zijn vader) en tante Marie Danten, die wonen aan de Spekstraat 4. In 1879 verdrinkt zijn vader in de Ringvaart, vermoedelijk door zelfdoding. Hij kon het leven niet meer aan na het verlies van zijn vrouw en de zorg voor vier kleine kinderen. Gerardus werkt in de tapperij annex slijterij van zijn oom, aan de Spekstraat nr. 4, die de naam "de Deensche Os" draagt. In 1894 trouwt hij in Haarlem met Alida Fremij. Ze blijven wonen boven de tapperij in de Spekstraat 4 die hij pacht van zijn oom; hier worden alle vijf de kinderen (waarvan één levenloos) geboren. Op donderdag 20 april 1916 verhuist het gezin naar Rolhuizen 6 zwart te Haarlem. Een jaar later op woensdag 18 april 1917 verhuizen ze naar de Smedestraat 6 zwart te Haarlem. Gerardus werkt dan als loopknecht. Daarna verhuist Gerardus op dinsdag 3 juli 1928 nog naar de Spoorwegstraat 4 rood te Haarlem, waar hij op dinsdag 16 januari 1934 om 17.30 uur overlijdt aan keelkanker.
