De Franse connectie – een familie legende.

Als Dirkje Vennis in 1807 geboren wordt is haar moeder Francisca (Grietje) Vennis 13 jaar en 4 maanden oud. Over de vader, en het hoe en waarom, is niets bekend, alleen zij naam.
Als Dirkje op haar beurt in 1829 op 21 jarige leeftijd buitenechtelijke zoon Pieter Frans Abraham Vennis baart, zwijgt de familie (en het bevolkingsregister..) opnieuw in alle talen over het vaderschap.

Helena Nolte, de kleindochter van Pieter Vennis, sprak volgens haar dochter Amy Blom, vaak over een Franse tak in haar familie.
Volgens mijn moeder Amy had Helena ook contact met Franse tantes waarvan er 2 in een klooster zaten. Amy was door tal van gesprekken met haar moeder er absoluut van overtuigd dat er een Franse tak in de familie bestond.

Ik heb het vermoeden dat de vader van Pieter Vennis een Fransman was. Zijn moeder Dirkje Vennis blijft na de geboorte van Pieter 7 jaar ongehuwd voordat ze in 1836 met Gerrit Vorselman trouwt. Het is goed mogelijk dat mijn betovergrootmoeder Dirkje Vennis gedurende deze periode (en daarna..), nog contact onderhield met de vader van Pieter..
