Francisca Grietje Vennis was 13 jaar en 4 maanden oud toen ze haar dochter Theodora baarde. Over de vader, Dirk van Dijk, zijn leeftijd en het hoe en waarom, is niets bekend, alleen zijn naam.

Het is ook zeer uitzonderlijk dat een buitenechtelijk kind de familienaam van de vader krijgt in plaats van de moeder. Misschien heeft Dirk van Dijk, of zijn familie, een regeling met de ouders van Grietje getroffen dat zij het kind zouden opbrengen. Dirkje, genaamd naar haar vader (?), wordt later bij het bevolkingsregister van Amsterdam gedocumenteerd als Theodora Vennis. De naam Dirkje van Dijk verdwijnt geheel uit het familie geheugen en wordt ook niet genoemd als Theodora een buitenechtelijke moeder wordt van Pieter Vennis, of wanneer ze op bijna 29 jarige leeftijd trouwt met Gerrit Vorselman. De naam van Dijk is voorgoed uit het familiealbum geschrapt.. en ik neem aan dat Dirkje daar goede redenen voor had.

Misschien kan een een lokale historicus toelichten hoe er door staat en/of kerk met hele jonge minderjarige, ongetrouwde moeders werd omgegaan in het begin van de 19de eeuw..
