Minard graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree and was a music teacher in schools for many years. He lived in Flin Flon, Manitoba and Rosetown, Saskatchewan. He moved to Burnaby, British Columbia and operated a music store in Port Moody, B.C. He was still selling real estate in 1991, although he was over eighty years old.
