A census of the Villa of Cerralvo (Monterrey) conducted on September 4, 1626, noted that Miguel de Montemayor and his family lived in the house of his father-in-law Diego Rodriguez. Diego Rodriguez' dwelling is described as being 50 paces from and facing the Convent of San Francisco. The dwelling contained 2 rooms and "un torrecilla alta", or small tower. Diego Rodriguez and his family lived in one of the rooms, Diego's brother Lucas Garcia lived in the other room, and Diego Rodriguez' son-in-law Miguel de Montemayor lived with his family in the small tower
