-1860 US census, Olive, Clinton, IA - 34, farmer, Calamus PO. $150 real estate, $150 personal, b: Canada. According to this census, there were three female children born before John. The names are illegible on the census, but the oldest was 15 and born in NY, the second was 13, b. IL, the third was 11, b. IL. This would place the family in New York until at least 1845, but in IL about 1847. He was son of JBL + AB. Farming next to him were the two brothers Thomas & Julius (Ignace & Julien), the sons of FJ and GG.

-1870 US census, Bethany, Harrison, MO, - 44 farmer, $800 real estate, $500 personal, b. Canada, can't read or write.
-1880 US census, Grant, Harrison, MO, - 54 farmer, b. France; both parents b. France ( ! )
-1885 Iowa state census, Reading, Calhoun, IA, - 59, property description: Town 86, Range 31, sec 28 NE SW, b. Canada, entitled to vote.
-1895 Iowa state census, Dallas Ctr, Dallas Co., IA, 67, b. NY (only the head of household listed)
-1900 US census, Trenton twp, Brookings Co, SD, - gives birth month as Feb 1826, 74, b. Canada, immigrated to US in 1838, owns his farm free and clear.

-1897 land map of Trenton Twp does not show him. Must have moved there betw 1897 and 1900.

DEATH: per SD death certificate. Philip is now in Haakon County, which split off from Stanley shortly after John's death.
