Lieut. Abraham Post was born about 1640 in Hartford, Connecticut. He became a merchant.

He married twice. He married Lydia Buckland . After her death, he married Mary Jordan about 1663 in Guilford, New Haven County, Connecticut. They had a son Jordan, our ancestor.

Abraham was made a freeman in 1665, an ensign two years later, and became a lieutenant of those concerned with land surveying and dealing with the Indians (notably, Uncas, Sachem of the Mohegans). In 1680, he was commissioned a Lieutenant of the Saybrook Fort.

Abraham died in 1680 in Hartford, Connecticut or circa 1691 in Saybrook, CT. He left real estate valued at over 487 pounds. His eldest son Stephen received 121 pounds, the other children 53 pounds each.

Mary died March 23, 1683/84 in Saybrook, CT, at age 41
