1891 aged 3, living at Village Street, Holwell with his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Abbiss, and sister Annie.

1901 aged 13, living at 18 Great Green with his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Abbiss, and siblings Rose, Thomas William and Alice.

1911 Albert was one of a group of 5 Pirton men for whom a 'farewell service' was held at St. Mary's in March 1911, Albert was 23 at that time. A while later word came back to the village that this group of enterprising young men had crossed the Rocky Mountains and arrived at Westminster near to Vancouver on the west Canadian coast.

He returned from Canada to fight in the 1st World War and sadly was killed in action.

ALBERT ABBISS Private 429011. 7th Bn., Canadian Infantry (British Columbia Regt.) Died Wednesday 29 March 1916. Age 28. Son of Frank and Elizabeth Abbisss, of Pirton, Hitchin, Herts, England. Albert Abbiss was born on 16 November 1887. He was unmarried, and his occupation was a labourer. His attestation papers are dated 13 March 1915 at which time he belonged to the 104th Militia and were signed at New Westminster, British Columbia.

He was 5'8" in height, of medium complexion, Gray eyes and brown hair, with three vaccination marks on his left arm and the letters "J H C" over a heart, cross and anchor tattoo on his right forearm. He was Church of England and was considered fit for service in the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force. SOURCE Library & Archives Canada website.
