He had a relationship with Sarah.
1692 mentioned in the will of his father "...I will & give unto Robert Baldwin my son all that messuage or tenement att Nowfrayles? in Wrotham aforesaid together with the barne stable and houses edifices & buildings orchards gardens hoses(?) & barksides with the appurtenances thereunto belonging And also all those severall peeces or parcells of land arrable meadow & pasture thereunto now used & belonging All the premisses are situate lying & being in the parish of Wrotham aforesaid & now in the tenure or occupasion of Richard Olliver or his assignes & lately purchased of Richard Browne & Thomas Johnson so holden to the same Robert Baldwin my son and to his heires for ever paying out of it ten shillings within one yeare next after my decease..............
And further I will & give unto my three sons William Thomas & Robert equally between them all my brasse & pewter (except the ffurnace & poles before mentioned) and all the lynnen lying & being in a long plain chest standing over the hall equally to be devided between them..........
And also I doe make the said Robert Baldwin my son full & whole Executor of this my Testament & Last Will And to enable him to pay my debts & legacies I give and leave unto him all the rest and residue of my goods chattells cattell debts household stuffe & personall effects whatsoever (except the leaden sisterns in the malthouse) to see my body decently buried my debts & legacies paid and this my Will proved & performed in every respect..."
Thus Robert inherited property from his father and was also executor of his will. In his own will he mentions his deceased brothers, William and Thomas Baldwin. He also mentions John Cogger, son of his niece Rachell, deceased, but doesnt say whose daughter she was. He doesnt mention any children of his own, but apears to have been married to a widow named Joanes, who had a grandson by her previous marriage.
Residue of his estate plus his property in Plaxtol went to Thomas, son of Thomas, who was his executor. He gives £50 (equally divided) to Anne, Margaret , William & Hester (children of his niece, Elizabeth Hernden) at age 21 or marriage; £100 to niece Anne Robson; £100 to niece Elizabeth Tomlyn; £140 to nephew Francis Baldwin; £100 to niece Hester Chilmaid [sic]; to Hannah, daughter of nephew William Baldwin, 40s a year until age 21, then lump sum of £70; £4 at age 21 to Thomas, son of nephew William Baldwin; £5 to William Eversfeild sen'r (of Wrotham); £20 at age 21 to John Cogger, son of niece Rachel; £70 to Reuben, youngest son of brother Thomas Baldwin, plus property in Ightham in occupation of John Buttenshaw and Thomas Bright; £23 at age 21 to John Joanes, grandson of late wife Sarah; nephew Thomas Baldwin (son of Thomas) as executor and residuary legatee and inheritor of his house (Witnesses: Thomas Streatfeild Jnr, James Plumer jnr, William Morgan)
LAST WILL & TESTAMENT Robert Baldwin 13 April 1717 In the name of God Amen this thirteenth day of Aprill in the third year of the reign of our sovereign lord George by the grant of God of Great Britain Ffrance and Ireland King Defender of the ffaith etc Annoque Domini one thousand seven hundred and seventeen I Robert Baldwin of Plaxtoll in the parish of Wrotham in the County of Kent yeoman being in good health and of sound and disposing mind and understanding (praised be God) doe make and ordaine this my last will & testament in manner following (that is to say) Imprimis I resign my soul into the hands of my most mercifull creator trusting for salvation through the merritts of Christ my Redeemer And my body I comitt to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor hereinafter named, And as concerning my worldly estate it hath pleased God to bless me withall both reall and personall I give and dispose thereof as followeth Item I give and bequeath unto Anne Margarett William and Hester Hernden the four children of my late neece Elizabeth wife of Isaac Hernden deceased the sume of ffifty pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain (equaly to be devided between them) and to be paid to them by my executor hereinafter named at their severall and respective age or ages of one and twenty years, and in case either or any of them shall happen to die and depart this life, before they attaine their said age or ages of one and twenty years, then my will and meaning is that the said sume of ffifty pounds shall be equally devided between the survivors of them Item I give and bequeath unto my neice Anne now wife of John Rabson daughter of my deceased brother William Baldwin the sum of one hundred pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid unto her by my executor within one year after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my neice Elizabeth now wife of Isaac Tomlyn daughter of my brother Thomas deceased the sume of one hundred pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to her by my executor within one year after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my nephew Ffrancis Baldwin the sume of one hundred and fforty pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to him by my executor within one year after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my neice Hester now wife of Stephen Chilmaid the sume of one hundred pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to her by my executor within one yeare after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto Hannah Baldwin daughter of my nephew William Baldwin deceased the sume of fforty shillings a year to be paid unto her yearly by my executor hereinafter named until she shall attain the age of one and twenty years if she the said Hannah shall soe long live, and from and imediately after she shall have attained her said age of one and twenty years, then I give and bequeath unto her the [aforesaid] Hannah the sume of seventy pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain, and to be then paid to her by my executor hereinafter named out of my personall estate and the house and land hereby devised to him and his heires, Item I give and bequeath to Thomas Baldwin son of my aforesaid nephew William Baldwin deceased the sume of four pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to him by my executor at his age of one and twenty years if he shall soe long live and not otherwise out of my personall estate and the house and land I hereby give to him and his heires, Item I give and bequeath unto William Eversfeild the elder of Wrotham aforesaid the sume of ffive pounds to be paid to him by my executor within one year after my decease, Item I give and bequeath unto John Cogger son of my neice Rachell deceased the sume of twenty pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to him by my executor at his age of one and twenty years if he shall soe long live and not otherwise out of my personall estate and the house and land I hereby give to him and his heires, Item I give and bequeath unto my nephew Reuben Baldwin youngest son of my brother Thomas Baldwin deceased the sum of seventy pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to him within one yeare after my decease by my executor hereafter named Item I give and bequeath unto John Joanes grandson to my late deceased wife Sarah the sume of three and twenty pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to him by my executor hereinafter named at his age of one and twenty years if he the said John Joanes shall soe long live, Item all the rest and residue of my goods cattle chattells household stuffe ready money debts oweing bills bonds leases mortgages and all other my personall estate whatsoever I give and bequeath unto my nephew Thomas Baldwin son of my brother Thomas appurtenances thereunto belonging situate lying and being in Ightham in the aforesaid county of Kent in the tenures or occupations of John Buttenshaw and Thomas Bright or their assigns To have and to hold unto the said Reuben Baldwin his heires and assigns forever In Witnesse whereof I the said Robert Baldwin have to this my last Will and Testament (revoaking all former wills by me made) written
