John was 10 years old when he travelled with his family to Australia. He owned 'Ferndale', some two miles south of 'Ettlesdale' in the Bathurst region. He died on 14 February, 1861 at 'Ferndale', Caloola, Bathurst. Occupation was farmer and grazier and age was 33 years. Cause of death was disease of the brain, duration was 2 years. Medical attendant was R Machattie, who saw his patient last on 2 February, 1861. Father's occupation was listed as farmer and grazier. Informant was George Larnach, brother, Bald Ridge, Georgiana. John is buried at Bathurst and religion was Church of Scotland. Time in colony was 23 years. Children of marriage listed as William 6, Mary Ann 4, John Edmund 1 year and 3 months and 1 boy (George) deceased. John and Margaret's youngest child, Elizabeth, was born six months after her father died.
After John died, Margaret remarried in 1864 to Noble Wilson (Margaret's cousin on her mother's side). Noble was born 15.9.1841 (birth date according to shipping record). He was born in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. His parents were William Wilson and Rebecca Liddell. Noble died 2 April, 1919, aged 78 years at Caloola and is buried at Caloola Cemetery.
Margaret Wilson/Larnach died 29 November, 1918 at 'Ferndale', Caloola, and aged 88 years and is buried at Caloola Churchyard. 'Ferndale' then remained in Wilson hands until it was purchased by Clive Larnach at the end of WW2. Clive is the son of John Edmund Larnach. The Kelly family owns the property (as at 2003). 'Ferndale' is situated on Caloola Road, Caloola.
