[1st clipping]
"[handwritten date: February , 11 1940 - the year ought to be 1941]
MRS. E. M. SAYLOR
Critically ill for a week, folling the birth of a son, Mrs Emory M. Saylor, 38, Denver, Ia., died at 9:45 a. m. Tuesday in Presbyterian hospital here.
Her death, after eight days of unconsciousness and the birth by Caesarian operation, was attributed to complications.
Born Dec. 23, 1902, as Sylvia Nation, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oma Nation, Buckingham, Ia. She was married at Nashua, Ia., to Emory M. Saylor, Dec. 25, 1928. They lived in Waterloo until March 1, 1939, when they took over operation of a farm at the south edge of Denver.
Surviving are the husband; two sons, Gary Lee, 13 months old, and Francis, born Feb. 4; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nation, now residing near Waverly, Ia., and a sister, Mrs. Harold Massey, Nashua.
A daughter, Carolyn Sue, 4 years old, died here Feb. 14 1939, victim of scalding burns she suffered at the family home when she fell into a pail of water.
The body was taken to O'Keefe & Towne funeral home."

MRS. EMORY M. SAYLOR
Funeral services for Mrs. Emory M. Saylor, 38, Denver, Ia., who died Tuesday in Presbyterian hospital after a week's illness following childbirth will be conducted at 2 p. m. Thursday by Rev. Oliver Smith, pastor of Western Avenue Gospel hall, at O'Keefe & Towne funeral home. Burial will be in Orange Township cemetery.
Casket bearers will be J. H. Shaulis, Marvin Peck, Bryan Kepford, Leonard Wood, Eito Kehe and Warner Droste."
Chiseled into her stone, "MOTHER SYLVIA S. SAYLOR 1903 - 1941"
The year of birth chiseled into her stone conflicts with the date of birth given in her obituary. Note, Nashua, IA is near "The Little Brown Church" about which we were allowed to sing in school. Were Sylvia & Emory married at that Congregational church near Nashua or somewhere is in the Nashua, IA area? - D. A. Navorska - v Jan MMXX - in proximo Grove, OK.
