Funeral services for Grace Meyering, 86, of Buffalo Center, vwsre held Monday, April 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center with ftev. Gerald Byste officiating, interment was in Olena Mound Cemetery with WinterFuneral Home in charge of arrangements.
Organist was Cheryl Baumann and soloist was Jeff Hawthorne. The congregation participated in the singing of hymns. Casketbearers were Joel Price, Justin Meyering, Michael Meyering, Paul Meyering, Jim Korsa and Eric Doty. Honorarycasketbearers were Ellie Rippentrop, Sandy Armstrong, Glenda Kramer and Sue Armstrong.
Grace Meyering, daughter of Everett and Bena (Burma) Wessels, was bom March 19, 1914, near Buffalo Center. Her grandparents, John and Gretje Wessels, immigrated to the United States from Bellingwolde, Holland. Upon the death of hermother, Grace was raised by her grandparents. Her brother, John, and sister, Pearl, were each raised by other relatives.
On February 17, 1937, Grace married Heiko Meyering at the Reformed Church Parsonage in Buffalo Center. To this union seven children were bom. Grace spent her years on the farm and when she and Heiko retired in 1972, they moved to BuffaloCenter. She was fortunate to be able to lead a very active life. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, fishing, and traveling. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Literary Club, Grace Circle and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Grace passed away Thursday, March 30. 2000. at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, in Mason City.
She is survived by her seven children: James and Karen Meyering of Woden, Jeriene and Gary Sleper of Titonka, Russell and Thelma Meyering of Woden, Leroy and Ruth Meyering of Bloommgton, Minnesota; Henry and Janet Meyering of Garner,Marsha and Dan Saybolt of Miami, Florida; Elaine and Dale Price of Lakota; eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister. Pearl Wessels of Mason City, and a half-sister, Mae Sheldon of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Heiko; her brother, John; two half-brothers, Everett. Jr., and Suite; a half-sister, Lena Wessels; a step-sister, Paulina Waldo, and two grandchildren, Sandra Sleper and BrandonPrice."
