The family of Henry Smythe / Smyth / Smith was recorded at the visitation of Wiltshire in 1623. He was noted as the son of Henry Smith of Corsham, and the husband of firstly Alice, daughter of Rowland Browne of London, and secondly Jane Anger. He was recorded as the father of 11 sons and 5 daughters.
In the will of his uncle, Thomas (Customer) Smythe, the will made in May 1591 the Testator made a bequest of £20 to his 'servant and kinsman Henry Smithe' and £10 to his brother Richard Smithe.
Henry married Alice Browne on 26 Sep 1591 at St Gabriel Fenchurch, City of London, the entry reads "maried Henrye Smeth Servant to Mr Thomas Smeth Cust to Alice Browne Servant in the sam hows".
Henry and his wife Alice Browne were noted in the will of his Aunt, Alice (Judde) Smythe, the will made on 10 Jul 1592.
Henry Smyth of Baydon is mentioned several times in the Manor Court records for Corsham, Wiltshire, in the period 1604-1607.
Henry was a witness to the will of his father in law, Anthony Anger of Watchfield, Berkshire, husbandman, the will made on 20 Feb 1608 and proved on 29 Feb 1609.
In 1609, Henry Smith of Baydon, gent., was an Overseer to the will of Anthony Stroud of Baydon.
Henry was noted in the will of his cousin, Sir Richard Smythe of Leeds Castle, Kent, the will made in 1627 and proved in 1628.

Note
Henry Smyth of Baydon and his eldest six sons were recorded in the Stemmata Chicheleana (the Pedigree of the Chichele family). However, they were all recorded in the pedigree in error as Henry Smythe of Baydon was the son of Henry Smythe the brother of Thomas (Customer) Smythe and not Henry Smythe the son of Thomas (Customer) Smythe and Alice (Judde) Smythe (the Chichele ancestry being derived from Alice Judde).
