Phillip Smythe was noted as the son of Robert Smythe of Corsham in the will of the latter proved in 1556[1].
Phillip Smith married Martha Birde on the 26 Jan 1567/1568 at All Hallows Lombard Street, City of London[2].
On 12 Feb 1571 he was recorded in the Visitation of London[3] as Phillip Smyth of London, gentleman, second son to Robert, and married to Martha daughter of Thomas Byrde with Thomas his son 1 year and 6 months old and Elizabeth age 2 years and 6 months.
Phillip is discussed in "The World of William Byrd"[4]. He died in the Fleet Prison in London and was buried on 20 Jul 1604 at St Bride Fleet Street, City of London.
