Notes about Nicolaas "Nico" Mur

In 1905 werd de Wet op het Lager Onderwijs gewijzigd. De salarissen der schoolhoofden werden nu bepaald naar de klasse der Persoonlijke Belastingen waarin de gemeente viel en daar Putten in de 8-9e klasse viel, kregen alle Puttense schoolhoofden een jaarsalaris van NLG 850, -- tot NLG 1.050,--.
In 1908 werd de Puttense afdeling van de Vereniging Christelijk Nationaal Onderwijs opgericht en werd de openbare school in de buurtschap Huinen gehuurd met meubilair, onderwijswoning en tuin om deze te gebruiken als christelijke school. Op de openbare schoo lzaten 191 kinderen van 97 ouders waarvan 90 ouders met 177 kinderen christelijk onderwijs wilden. Nicolaas werd daar onderwijzer.
In 1911 kwam bij de gemeenteraad van Putten het verzoek binnen van 34 ouders van schoolgaande kinderen op de openbare school in de buurtschap Diermen om van deze school 2 lokalen te huren met banken en kasten om daar christelijk onderwijs te geven. In 1912 werd besloten om de gehele school met onderwijswoning en tuin te verhuren aan de Ver.Chr.Nat. Onderwijs voor NLG 50,-- per jaar vermeerderd met NLG 8,-- voor banken en kasten. Voor de onderwijzerswoning moest NLG 120,-- per jaar worden betaald. Op 24-01-1912 wordt Nicolaas hoofd van deze school en gaat hij wonen in de ambtswoning die de naam "De Keizerskroon" draagt als herinnering aan het oude erfje uit 1800 waarop de school is gebouwd.
Op 01-05-1916 vertrekt Nicolaas naar de gemeente Staphorst waar hij hoofd wordt van de christelijke school te Rouveen. In een boekje wat is uitgegeven in verband met het 100-jarig bestaan van de school staat vermeld dat er bij zijn aanstelling een bank in de kerk werd gehuurd op kosten van de school. Omdat de bank met het gezin Mur niet helemaalvol was, mocht ook meester Dunnink gebruik maken van deze bank. In zijn periode groeide de school flink, er moest zelfs een vijfde leerkracht worden aangesteld. Ook financieel ging het voor de wind. Men kon er zelfs toe overgaan om elektriciteit aan te laten leggen in de school en de schoolwoning. Het werk werd uitgevoerd voor NLG 160,10 door De Vries en Mulder uit Meppel.
In 1920 vetrekt hij naar de Lage Vuursche om daar schoolhoofd te worden. Zijn gezin betrekt daar de schoolwoning " "Sonnewende". in 1939 gaat hij met pensioen en vertrekken zij naar Hilversum.
