In 1917 overlijdt vader Jan Hendrik Gieljan op 54-jarige leeftijd. Moeder Aaltje Hobers woont dan op "Hobershuis" alleen met haar 21-jarige zoon Jan Hendrik en haar 16-jarige dochter Jennigje. Jan Hendrik is dan de boer op 't erve. Een jaar later trouwt hij met de 11 jaar oudere Gerritdina Waterink.


Jannie Hop-Veltink schrijft over deze vrouw:

"Nu even over naar de vrouw van Jan Hendrik Gieljan. Haar naam was Gerritdina; wij noemden haar "Gedienemeuje". Haar achternaam was Waterink. (bijnaam: van de Polboer)
Als ik me goed herinner was zij nog al ziekelijk (TB ???) en huwde zij op latere leeftijd met Jan Hendrik Gieljan. Zij was ook ouder dan haar man. Verder woonde daar zus Jennigje van Jan Hendrik ook nog bij in. Al die jaren woonden Jan Hendrik Gieljan, zijn vrouw "Gedienemeuje" en zus Jennigje Gieljan samen in het "Hobershuis". En tenslotte is na het overlijden van deze drie deze tak uitgestorven op de boerderij in Ane."

In 1933 overlijdt moeder Aaltje Hobers. Zij is de laatste naamdrager Hobers die op deze boerderij woonde. De oudst bekende is "Johann Hobers" in 1601.
