    Op 7 januari 1801 werd het waterschap "Sebaldebuurster Molenpolder" opgericht. Het daadkrachtige bestuur van dit waterschap besloot vrijwel meteen om een watermolen te laten bouwen, maar dat stuitte op verzet van vijf boeren, die op het Westerzand woonden. De weduwe van Garment Jakobs, Martje Willems Renkema, behoorde tot de tegenstanders. Zij probeerden de bouw van de molen te voorkomen door een kort geding, waarbij Martje Willems Renkema werd vertegenwoordigd door haar zoon Wijmer Garmts Renkema. Uiteindelijk werd de zaak in der minne geschikt. De molen kwam er toch.
