Parents Alexander Stuart and Louisa (nee DuncanDunkin) married in Douglas IOM on 23 Apr 1893 - previous suspicion that they moved here to escape religious differences have not been proven as the research I now have from the IOM is that both were native to the Island, with Alexander's father coming from England, and Louisa's parents and grandparents coming from Ireland. This information will be added to this website in the future, but the hard copies are still doing the rounds in the family at the moment.
Elsie was the Eldest of 9, known other siblings: Minnie, Olive, Harold, Mina, Billy, Louisa, Ivy, and Amy.
She worked in the IOM Nobles Hospital until at the age of 14 she moved to the Deva Hospital, Chester, where she later met Frederick Wright, a Lance Corporal in the Border Regiment, who had been wounded in France, made unfit for Active Service, and then attached to the Military Foot Police at Chester.
They lived in Upper Parliament Street, Liverpool up to 1933, when they moved to 1 Lyndhurst Avenue, Pensby, Wirral. They had gone there on holiday and seen the houses being built - Elsie had set her mind and moved house with a handcart (!) on foot with the help of Fred's brother, William Townsend Wright, whilst Fred was at work in Liverpool.
