David Boiler, 63, died suddenly Sunday noon at his home west of McKinleyville of a heart attack. He was born in the Netherlands February 17, 1892. At the age of 6 months, his family moved to Zeland, Michigan. He was married at the age of 23 at which time he moved to Minneapolis, Minn. Two years later he lived in Fargo, North Dakota for a short time, then moved to Los Angeles where he spent 25 years prior to moving to Humboldt County nine years ago.
He was a sales manager for ten years at the Frost & French Ford Agency in Los Angeles. During the nine years in Humboldt he spent time raisinglily bulbs and daffodils along with his favorite hobby of raising quarter horses. He was known through the Pacific coast area as a breeder and raiser of quarter horses. He was engaged in various activities of raising quarter horses and showing them throughout the state. He was a judge at different state and local horse shows and rodeos, and member of the American Quarter horse Association, Pacific Bulb Growers Associationand Humboldt County Sheriffs Posse.
He is survived by his wife, Sophia; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Means, of Oroville; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Plasman of Zeland, Mrs. Minnie Poole of Zeland; two granddaughters, Shirley Kay Means, Oroville, and Linda Jane Means; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Field Mortuary, Chapelof the Redwoods, Arcata, J. Eldon Anderson officiating.
