Sir John Gordon died in 1649 (" Earls of Sutherland " p. 549 He married Margaret daughter of the Hon.
Robert Leslie of Findrassie, by Margaret, daughter of Alexander Dunbar of Grange, Dean of Moray, and one of the Lords of Session, which Robert was the son of George, Earl of Rothes. On stones on the archway of the cattle court at Embo mains are still to be seen two adjoining coats of arms, "I.G." " 1627": and M.L.". c early standing for John Gordon and Margaret Leslie.
