CommentaryOn 6 October 1633, Lodewijck Borremans had his son Jacob baptized in the Lutheran Church (DTB 40/76). On 15 July 1641, Lodewijck Borremans, from Hamburg, widower of CATHARINA STALPAERTS, living in the Warmoesstraet, was betrothed to MARIA WIJNTJES, from Hardewijck, 24, assisted by her niece Anna Muijltjes (DTB 677/241). Anna Muijltjes may be identical with Anna Muijltgens, the wife of Willem Mourisz. Smit of R 20504 (her brother Adriaen, painter, called himself Muijltjes). She wasthe daughter of Hans Muylkens of INVNO 1138. When Lodewijck Borremans bought a lot at a W.K. auction on 25 March 1633, he was said to be living in the Rapenbruchsteech in the Warmoesstraet, precisely the address of the house where he died. For more bio details, see the NOTES to R 35477 of Montias2. Borremans's occupation (seller of Neurenburg wares) is confirmed by the shop goods in the inventory, which included locks, keys, and other iron ware. The presence of a musquet, pistol, and bandelier in the inventory suggests that Borremans was a schutter.
