Before retiring in 1984, he owned Preakness Dairy, Wayne, New Jersey. Also had a veal farm in Vermont. The Poem, "Paradise", was written by Fred Sikkema and is indicative of his love for the Lord, his commitment to the Reformed faith, and his kingdom vision. Paradise It all began in a garden The Lord, and the man He had made Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the flower, the tree and the fern they walked in the sweetest communion in the refreshing cool of the day The Creator, and the crown of Creation but, that was yesterday.
The seed of sin was awakened, the fruit of the tree was sonsumed and the thorn and the thistle invaded that beautiful garden of love. And God, in longsuffering patience put up with the evil of men til' in grief and pain He repented, And opening the windows above He covered the face of creation with the waters of the ravishing flood. But, that was yesterday.
Look now, to the horizon, and to the brow of Calvary's hill See the outstretched arms of our Savior Nailed to that ugly wood, that tree, Which perhaps with yhe flower in that beautiful garden once stood, There He bore the curse of creation as He wore that thorny crown In response to God's proclamation thet satisfaction be found. But, that was yesterday.
Today we look for tomorrow in excited expectation, and FREE to partake of the lifegiving fruit of that beautiful, transplanted tree. That's Paradise! SS 147-14-8313.
