Agnes Edith Bras, 102, Sibley, died Thursday, June 14, at Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.
Services were Monday, June 18, at Christian Reformed Church in Sibley, with the Rev. Marvin Leese officiating. Burial was at Ocheyedan Township Cemetery, under the direction of Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.
Agnes Bras, daughter of Julius and Adriana (De Zeeuw) Zevenbergen, was born Feb. 25, 1899, in Middleburg, where she lived her youth and attended school. She moved to Ocheyedan at the age of 15.
She married Tunis Bras on February 15, 1922, in Ocheyedan. They farmed in the Ocheyedan and Harris area until they retired in 1956 and moved to Sibley. Mr. Bras died in July 1989.
She moved to Country View Manor of Sibley in April 2001. She was a member of Christian Reformed Church in Sibley.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, crocheting, knitting and playing scrabble.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn and Melvin Brouwer of Orange City and Verla and Gerald Elgersma of Sanborn; a son, Raymond and Mary Bras of Sheldon; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Julius and Ethel Zevenbergen of Ocheyedan; and two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Zevenbergen of Sibley and Jennie Zevenbergen of Belmond.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tunis Bras; a son, Lloyd Robert Bras; six brothers, John, Peter, Luke, Arie, Ike and Gerrit; and two sisters, Johanna DeWitt and Edith Smidt.
