Helen D. Honcoop, age 78 of Lynden, went to be with her Lord at her home on Wednesday, December 21.
Helen was the daughter of Walter and Alice (Honcoop) Lankhaar and was born in Bellingham on Jan. 5, 1927. She was married to Maurice Honcoop, Jr. in Lynden on March 7, 1945 and together operated a dairy farm on the Guide Meridian where Edaleen Dairy is now located. They were also instrumental in helping Edaleen Dairy begin operations and Helen worked as a cashier in the dairys retail store.
Mrs. Honcoop was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed traveling, attending Lynden Christian Basketball games, was an avid Seattle Mariners fan and regular diner at the Fairway Café in Lynden.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Maurice in 1997, brothers Cornie, Gerrit and Dennis Lankhaar; sister Marie VanderPloeg and is survived by her daughter Aileen and husband Ed Brandsma of Lynden; four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; brother Bill and wife Agnes Lankhaar and sister Cora and husband Ralph Visser of Lynden and numerous other relatives.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27 in Monumenta Cemetery followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Second Christian Reformed Church in Lynden with Rev. Mark Davies officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Mission Fund of the Second Christian Reformed Church; 710 Front St., Lynden, WA. 98264.
