William (Bill) Lankhaar
William (Bill) Lankhaar of Lynden, went to his heavenly home to continuehis walk with God on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the age of 89. Theson of Walter and Alice (Honcoop) Lankhaar, he was born on July 2, 1918in Lynden, Washington. He grew up on the family farm, and married AgnesHuizenga on April 12, 1944. As a couple of God, they raised their 6children and operated a dairy farm on the Slotemaker Road for 29 years.Bill was a man who loved God, his family, and gracefully accepted allthe challenges that he faced in life. He was active in his community andchurch. He was a member of Second Christian Reformed in Lynden, servedon church council, numerous other committees, and was a strong supporterof Christian education. He was one of the organizers of the MeadowdaleWater Assoc. and served as Treasurer for 25 years. At the age of 67 hefinally retired from work and devoted the remaining years of his life tohis family, grandchildren, and pursuing a variety of interests andactivities. He always had time to go fishing, play horseshoes, boardgames, or just talk with his friends and family. Bill is survived athome by his wife of 63 years, Agnes; children Dorothy (Gene) Greenoughof Lynden, Walt (Debbie) of Leavenworth, Steve (Marilyn), Doug (Kathy),Marilyn (Don) Masters, and Susan (Paul) DallaSanta, all of Lynden, anddaughter in-law Norma Lankhaar of Bellingham; 17 grandchildren, and 13great-grandchildren; sister Cora (Ralph) Visser of Lynden;brother-in-law Gilbert (Marion) Huizenga, and sister-in-laws, JennieHuizenga and Betty Hilverda; and numerous relatives and friends. Inaddition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothersCornelius, Gerrit, and Dennis; and by his sisters Marie (Marinus)VanderPloeg and Helen (Maurice) Honcoop. Private graveside services willbe held on Sat. Dec. 29 in Monumenta Cemetery followed by a 2pm memorialservice at Second Christian Reformed Church, 8th and Front in Lynden. William and Agnes Lankhaar of Lynden will celebrate their 60th weddinganniversary with a family dinner at the North Country Golf Club. Theywere married on April 12, 1944 in Second Christian Reformed Church ofLynden. Their children are Dorothy Greenough and husband Gene of Lynden,Walt Lankhaar of Marysville, Steve Lankhaar and wife Marilyn of Lynden,Doug Lankhaar and wife Kathy of Everson, Marilyn Masters and husband Donof Lynden and Susan DallaSanta and husband Paul of Lynden. They have 17grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
