  Absalom Scott was born on Dec. 2, 1820 in Harrison Co., Virgina. He died on May 5, 1883 in Auglaize County, OH. Absalom Scott and his wife Eleanor Iiams Scott lived in Shelby County after their marriage on Feb 20, 1845. They lived on land that Absalom's father, George Scott, had purchased in the 1830's. In 1860 they were living in Dinsmore, Shelby, Ohio (source: 1860 United States Federal Census).
  
  Ab moved to Pusheta Township, Auglaize County, Ohio around 1862. In the late 1860's Ab constructed a new farm house for his family next to an old Quaker cemetery, now called Scott's Cemetery. He also built a church near his home. It was a Methodist Episcopal Church. At some point the 'Scott Chapel' was torn down and lumber from it used to build a parsonage for the Shinbone Methodist Church, where Absalom and Eleanor Scott are buried.
  
  Died: Scott. At his residence four and one-half miles south of Wapakoneta, on May 5, 1883 Absalom Scott. The deceased was born in Harrison county, Va., December 2d, 1820 and his age was therefore 62 years, 5 months and 3 days. He united with the M. E. Church Nov. 11, 1877, and has ever since lived a strict and conscientious member of the same. The large concourse of people, who followed the remains of the deceased to the grave attested their appreciation of his good deeds while living. The interment took place Tuesday at Olive Branch cemetery, the services being conducted by Rev. M. Gascoigne, of Anns (source: 'Auglaize Co Democrat Wapakoneta OH May 10 1883').
