  Georg Amelius (Achtsynit) aus Mähren († Oktober 1541), Professor des kanonischen Rechts und Rektor der Universität zu Freiburg (Breisgau). Er heiratete die Magdalena Nitl(in) aus Treppbach. Georg Amelius war ein Kollege des Juristen Ulrich Zasius (1461-1535). Latinisiert Georgius Moravius AMELIUS. Im Freiburger Dom begraben. Starb an der Pest.

  Georgius Amelius (Achtznicht, Achtsynit), a native of Moravia, registered in 1518 at the University of Bologna, where he probably obtained the doctorate to which he laid claim when matriculating at Freiburg on 30 September 1521. Having taught a regular law course since 1523 , he became the first professor ordinarius of canon law in 1525 and continued in this position until his death, being seven times dean of law and three times rector. His first rectorate in the summer term of 1523 established him as a forceful spokesman for the rights of the university, which he often thereafter had occasion to defend. From an initial sixty florins his annual salary had been increased to one hundred in 1538, but he found it entirely inadequate, as he complained in a letter to Fridericus Nausea, an old friend. He was also a friend of Uldaricus (Ulrich) Zasius, exchanged letters with him, and was reluctantly permitted to contribute some preliminary matter to his "Intellectus iuris civilis (Basel: A. Cratander 1526). From 1532 he also corresponded with Bonifacius Amersbach. Amelius, who was buried in the cathedral of Freiburg, was married to Magdalena Nittlin of Treppbach and had two sons. One of them, Martin, became chancellor of the margraviate of Baden.
