The death of Mrs. Richard Jones occurred Thursday morning at nine o'clock, May 14th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Markham, in Deweyville. Mrs. Jones had been in poor health for a number of years. Sometime since she suffered a stroke of paralysis, by which she was rendered helpless. Since this affliction she had resided with her daughter, Mrs. Markham, who had given her faithful, tender care. Mrs. Jones' maiden name was Miss Catherine Williams. She was born in Caernarvon, North Wales, about sixty years since. She was married in Caernarvon to Richard Jones. In the year 1858, Mr. and Mrs. Jones came to this country, settling on Welsh Hill. Five children were born to them, four of whom survive. Mrs. William Markham, Mrs. Platt E Capron, David R. Jones, of Rome, and William R. Jones, of Welsh Hill. One daughter, Mrs. Richard H. Roberts, of Turin, passed away several years since. Mr. Jones' death occurred in October, 1867. In 1873 Mrs. Jones was married the second time to Richard E. Jones, of Welsh Hill, whose death occurred November 7, 1907. From this union two children survive, Mrs. William Wendt, of Constableville, and Adriel H. Jones, of Turin. Mrs. Jones was a Welsh Methodist in faith, and was held in esteem by all who knew her. The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from the home of Mrs. Markham, Rev. Richard H. Hughes officiating. The bearers were the sons and sons-in-law of the deceased. Interment took place in the Welsh Hill cemetery.
