ADRIAN DEMMERS, Private First Class WEST SAYVILLE son of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Demmers of West Sayville, was born in Velsen, Holland, on June 20, 1920, and came to America in 1929. Prior to his enlistment on February 4, 1941, he worked on a gladioli farm. Before he went to the Southwest Pacific area he spent three months in Panama at intensive training in jungle warfare and weapons. With the 32nd Division, !27th Infantry, he participated in the New Guinea Campaign and saw action at Leyte and Luzon. Later he was reclassified' as unable to do combat duty, and was transferred to an Army Base Post Office. He returned to the U. S. and was discharged on August 5, 1945. Private Demmers wears the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the American Defense Ribbon, the American Theatre Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with two Stars. 727 worldwa
