  In Broadmayne, St Michael churchyard is a large box tomb in Henry's memory, the wording on this being: "Here lieth ye body of Henry Sherren of Nether Cerne who died June ye 1752 in ye 54 year of his age".

  Henry made his will on 20th June 1752, dying at his home in Nether Cerne only 10 days later. His will was proved on 26th September that year. Executors: Thomasin & Henry nephew, Henry Sherren. Source: Ref# Ad/Dt/W/1752 Event Record # 16

Notities over Henry S. Sherren

Henry and Thomasin lived in Nether cerne in a most comfortable house just near the church. In the book by Hutchins"History of Dorset" the house is mentioned as, " On the north side of the churchyard is a neat house inhabited by Mr. Henry Sherren, only son of Mr. Sherren of Upwey and Friars Waddon, whose family have occupied the principal farm here for many years. In the walls of one of the out houses, which formerly made a part of the ancient mansion, are some very large stones externally carved into the form of human faces, which Mr. Sherren says are so placed as to command the gatehouse or the principal entrance of the mansion, now taken down, and supposes, from the performations of the eyes and mouth, that they were intended for the discharge of wall pieces to protect the entrance and to repel the attack of the enemy." Henry and Thomasin did not have any children. Henry made his will on 20 June 1752, dying at his home in Nether Cerne only ten days later, aged 53; he was buried on 4 July, and according to the direction in his will, in Broadmayne chuchyard. His executors were his wife Thomasina and his nephew Henry Sherren, son of Henry senior's brother John. In Broadmayne churchyard was set up a large box tomb in Henry's memory, the wording on this being: "Here lieth ye body of Henry Sherren of Nether Cerne who died June ye 1752 in ye 54 year of his age. He was the second son of John Sherren of this place who died February ye 14, 1714. aged 60 years, who also lieth here."
