=====Esens EvLuthKirche marriages, 1767. p. 384, f. 238, #17. "Married on 25May1767, Herr Johann Lamberti, Notary Public and Clerk of the Judicial Court, who lives at the market place, a legitimate son of Wilhelm Christoph Lamberti, a gardner at Sandhorst [27 years of age], to Teetje Onnen, legitimate daughter of the late Onne Hayen Onnen, formerly a boatman and wood merchant at Westaccumersiel [28 years of age]."s three and a half farms at Sandhorst to form a large manorial estate that later was bought by Count Ulrich II (ruled 1628-48). His sons, Enno Ludwig and Georg Christian were made princes (Fuersten) in 1654 and 1662, respectively. In 1734, Ulrich's great grandson, Georg Albrecht, died at Sandhorst. Georg Albrecht's son Karl Edward, died on 25April1744, as the last prince of Ostfriesland, making the principality an inheritance of the kings of Prussia. Frederick the Great of Prussia (1740-86) had most of the castle torn down in 1764. It had been comprised of a main building and two wings. All but one wing was demolished. On 19July1795, the Prussian Major General Gerhard Leberecht von Bluecher was married there to Amalie von Colomb, the daughter of the president of the Prussian chamber. Von Bluecher joined his forces with those of the English Duke of Wellington to defeat France's Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte at Waterloo in 1814."23. "Johannes Lamberti, city councillor and mayor of Esens, died of consumption on the 7th of Aug., 66 years of age, and was buried on the 12th of Aug. at Westeraccum.t: "Westeraccum, a village 3 km from the coast, which in 1823, had 76 households and 302 inhabitants. Westeraccumsiel, a neighboring harbor village right on the coast, had 108 households and 343 inhabitants in 1823". These villages lie just NE of Dornum and are now considered one town. {My note: Often, a coastal Frisian village would evolve some distance inland, on a river or canal bank, where the land was slightly above average high tide. Then dikes would be built off shore on land below sea level. A siel would be built in the dike so that the river or canal could drain into the North Sea during low tide. 'Siel' means gate. The old word was 'Syhl'. A siel is a gate in the very tall dikes which were built to keep the North Sea out of this very flat, extensive, marshy sea level area. A secondary village would then evolve at the 'siel', and take the name of the primary village to which the suffix 'siel' would be appended. Hence, Westeraccum and Westeraccumsiel evolved in tandem. Often farming was the primary venture of the inland inhabitants, while fishing, shipping, importing, exporting and maintaining the dikes and operating the siels, occupied the lives of the residents nearest the siels.. See his notes for the translation of this treatise.e Netherlands, Germany and Denmark, and developed the elaborate system of dikes, canals, windmill pumps and gates [siels] which kept the North Sea out of the lowlands [polders] during storms and high tides, but could be opened during low tide so the canals and river could drain into the sea. Gradually, more and more below-sea-level land was claimed from the North Sea, and developed over many centuries. Many lives were lost in this endeavor. Usually, harbors were developed behind the siels, permitting shipping and fishing to occur despite the presence of the very tall dikes. Ingress and egress obviously occurred during low tide when the 'siels' could be safely opened.s spoken by all of these people whether they lived in Holland, Niedersaxony, Schleswig/Holstein or Denmark. Deciphering Frisian records is not easy.}l address of a German who apparently resides in Potsdam and who shares or has knowledge of Lamberti genealogy, and has data on line].
