Note: Leonard Christopher Alwood, son of Charles and Elizabeth Alwood; was born in Troy Township, DeKalb County, Indiana, June 13, 1853 and departed this life May 31, 1923 aged 69 years, 11 months and 17 days. He leaves to mourn hisloss; his wife, five children and one grandchild, Kenneth Norragon, who was reared in the home as a son from infancy to manhood, three brothers, one sister, nine grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. His father was asoldier and died during the Civil War, and at the age of nine years he went to live with his Grandparents, living with them until he was 21 years of age. At an early age he found Christ and was a faithful follower until his death. On the19th of December 1878, he was united in marriage to Elnora Robinett. to his union was born five children, two sons and three daughters; Earl of South Bend, Roy of Angola, Mrs. James Wisner of (or near) Metz, Mrs. Laura Norragon in thehome and Mrs. Ray Haviland of Bryan. The deceased has lived in the vicinity for 40 years, with the exception of three years living near Angola. He was a kind and loving husband, a gentle and indulgent father. The funeral was conductedSunday afternoon, June 3, from the Alvarado M.E. Church of which the deceased was a member. The Pastor, Rev. I.W. Carnes, officiated. The body was laid to rest in the Edon Cemetery.
