Gladys Viola (Larson) Engelby, age 94, of Mankato died Monday, July 23, 2007 at the Fairmont Medical Center.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Grace Lutheran Church, Mankato. Burial will be in Lake Fremont Cemetery, Dunnell, MN. Visitation will be one hour before the service at church on Saturday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Gladys was born February 23, 1913 to William and Nellie (Byro) Larson in Linden Township, Brown County, MN. She married Eddie Gullickson in 1941 in Blue Earth. They lived in Blue Earth and Elmore several years. Gladys worked in factories and cleaned houses all of her life. In 1958 she married Ervin Engelby. They lived in Elmore, Estherville, and Lake Crystal. She moved to Mankato in 1974 and into Gus Johnson Plaza in 1980.
Gladys was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her family and friends so much around her table whether it was her wonderful dinners or just coffee. We all enjoyed her donuts and special "Grandma Cookies". She loved playing cards.
Gladys is survived by two children, Joanne (Harvey) Sathoff of Dunnell, Marlow "Toby" (Lauri) Snyder of Grants Pass, OR; brother, Orville (Vera) Larson of Waterville; six grandchildren, Peg (Levi) Flarharty of South Branch, Bob Sathoff and special friend, Susan Reiter of Estherville, IA, Robyn (Barb) Sathoff of Fairmont, Debra (David) Brandt of Sherburn, Dixie (Gordon) Preuss of Sherburn, DeDee Sathoff and special friend, Tylan Remmers of Trimont, Butch Sathoff of Dunnell; two step grandchildren of Portland, OR; 18 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; special daughter, Gerri Lundby of Hastings; special niece, Edie (Terry) Teich of Eagan; many nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by six brothers; three sisters; and two great-great-grandchildren.
