"Funeral held for Martha Saienga, 80, who died February 16 at Hartley
Funeral services were held Monday, February 20, at 2 p.m. for Martha Saienga, 80, of Melvin, who died February 16 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Hartley. The Rev Paul Hansen was officiating clergyman.
Mrs. Helen Saienga was organist and congregational hyms included 'How Great Thou Art' and 'Blest Be the Tie That Binds'.
Casket bearers were Virgil Knock, Clarence Dahlman, Galen Rozeboom, Wilbur Morfitt, Phil Kaiser and Ben Knock. Interment was in Baker Township Cemetery at Melvin with Sanborn Funeral Home Service in charge of arrangements.
Martha Wiechert, the daughter of William and Lena (Budde) Wiechert, was born June 13, 1903, at Phelps, Mo. She spent her early childhood in Missouri and at the age of 13 she moved with her family to the Melvin area.
On March 10, 1925, Martha was united in marriage to Richard Saienga at Melvin. To this union four children were born. Following ther marriage, Richad and Martha continued to make their home in the Melvin area.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and UMW, the Sunshine Club and the Hodge Podge Club.
She is survived by her husband Richard of Melvin; daughter, Mrs. Floyd (June) Edwards of Ozark, Mo.; son, Emory of LeMars; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters; Doris Tarkenton and Evelyn, who died in infancy, five brothers and three sisters."
