'Andrew DeVries was born near Parker, South Dakota on January 18, 1921, the son of John A. and Lena DeVries and his Step-mother, Ella. He attended rural school and grew to manhood in the Parker-Chancellor area.
On February 10, 1042 he was united in marriage to Marles Knock at Lennox. They lived in the Chancellor-Lennox area their entire married life. He was a self employed farmer and blacksmith.
He was a member of the Germantown Presbyterian Church of rural Chancellor. He organized and was part of the Andrew DeVries Quartet, having given gospel concerts throughout the area.
Following hospitalization of one day, Andrew died suddenly at Vigorg hospital on June 30, 1980. He attained the age of 59 years, five months and 28 days.
Survivors are his widow, Marles; four sons: Larry of Lennox, Lowell of Madison, Leland of Davis and Loren at home; seven daughters: Mrs. Frank (LeAnn) Tatro of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Rick (Laurna) Gustafson of Rapid City, Mrs. Dan(Lorraine) VanGeest of Inwood, Iowa, Mrs. Terry (Linda) Thompson of Kingsley, Iowa, Mrs. Kenneth (Loretta) Lang of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs.Thomas (Lena) Sanderson of Tea and Mrs. David (Leota) Olsen of Fairview; 18 grandchildren; twobrothers, Eddie DeVries of Chancellor and Merlin DeVries of Parker; four sisters: Mrs. Dick W. (Marie) Plucker and Mrs. Harold (Darlene) Friese, both of Chancellor, Mrs. Martin (Evelyn) Symens of Lennox and Mrs. Harm (Elilzabeth) Hagenaof Davis.' <>
