Nadine Mae Jorgenson, of Ledyard, Iowa was peacefully led home by her Lord and Savior at the age of 90 on October 10, 2012, from the Heritage Home in Bancroft, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday at Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church in Ledyard, with Rev. Victor Vriesen and Rev. Jerry Miller officiating. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery in Ledyard. Visitation will be 5 7 pm Friday at the church.
She was born September 13, 1922 to Walter and Theresa (Ukena) Hans near Lakota, Iowa. She attended the Ledyard Community School in Ledyard, IA and graduated in 1940. Nadine was united in marriage to Earl (John) Jorgenson on September 26, 1942 at Neosho, Missouri where he was stationed at Camp Crowder. Following his return in 1945, they resided in Ledyard, Iowa and later moved to a farm by Ledyard. In 1980, they moved off the farm into Ledyard. Earl passed away in 1996. She married Richard Countryman from Titonka in 1997. He passed away in 2005. She moved into Heritage Home in December, 2009. Nadine worked in food service at Heritage Home for three years before going to the United Hospital in Blue Earth, MN where she worked until retiring in 1986. She was the area correspondent for 20 years for the local newspapers and KBEW radio located in Blue Earth. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was very proud to be a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 68 years. Her hobbies included trying new recipes, baking bread, gardening, and writing letters. She baked bread weekly for her family, friends, and provided the Communion loaves for the Bethany Evangelical and Reformed Church, in Ledyard, for several years. Spending time with her family brought joy to her heart. Her love for them shined as bright as the sun.
Nadine is survived by her four sons, Darwin (Hilda) of Lubbock, TX, Lyle (Darlene), of Florence, OR, Eldon (Diane), of Ledyard, IA, and Dale of Smithton, MO; grandchildren include (Darwin's) Jeffery, CT, Elizabeth and Joanna both from WA; (Lyle's) John, OR; (Eldon's) Sheridee (Murl) Dodds of Algona, IA and Stacie Jorgenson Anderson from Welcome, MN; (Dale's) Rosanna, Cassandra, and Matthew, all from MO; she loved the smiles she received from her 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a son, Ronald in 1967 and a brother, Loren Hans.
