Son of George H. White and Ida E. (Price) White, (later Seymore). Born in Chicago, his parents were divorced. His father (George) was an Officer at Chicago Title and Trust. His Mother's second husband (William T Seymour) was in construction and worked on projects like Chicago Union Station, Navy Pier, and the Dearborn Street Subway. As a child Leslie ran around Navy Pier during construction.
He Married Margret Colberg (Kholberg) on August 31, 1918. They had two sons Robert Seymour White (Sept 19, 1922) and Leslie George White (May 19, 1929). Following Margret's death (1952), he was remarried to Hortense C Kruchell. At his death, his second wife had him laid to rest in her family plot at this location. He has a second head stone at the family plot with his first wife and father (George), in Acacia Park Cemetery, Chicago, IL. Magnola Section, Block 11, plot 108.
Leslie taught electrical systems for the US Navy during WWI at Great Lakes Naval base. Leslie went from the US Navy to becoming a lighting engineer. He assisted with the final adjustments on the originally lighting of the Wrigley building. In 1927, he was commissioned to do the lighting design on the Chicago Electric Chair. The building housing the chair was destroyed during the 2012 renovation of Cook County Jail. In December of 1941, installation of his design for lights on Wrigley Field was scheduled to begin the next Spring. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Mr. Wrigley cancelled the project and donated the lighting equipment to the US Army.
