Harold C. "Bill" Feige, 86, died Monday, April 5, 2010, at South Ridge Health Care System in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ascension Lutheran Church in Brookings. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at Rude's Funeral Home in Brookings.
Bill Feige was born May 28, 1923 in Madison, the son of Oscar T. and Mamie R. (Shutes) Feige.
In his earlier years he attended school in Madison. Bill entered the United States Army on Feb., 4, 1944, in Fort Snelling, Minn.
After two years of service, he received his honorable discharge on May 4, 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wis. In April 1949, he married Joyce Nelson in Pipestone, Minn. They farmed near White.
On Feb. 10, 1973, Bill married Ernola (Glatzel) Olson in Luverne, Minn.
He enjoyed the simple things in life such as drinking coffee with his friends, dancing, bowling, and playing cards.
They owned a lake cabin and a pontoon boat, and every weekend you could find them enjoying time on the lake. He loved to be outside mowing the lawn and gardening.
Spending time with his family and friends was very important to him.
He was a member of St. John American Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
He is survived by his three children; Connie (Lyle) Jensen of Sioux Falls, Janet Willmott of Brookings and Larry (Joy) Feige of Brandon; three step-daughters, Paula (Gary) Johnson of Brookings, Jolene (Alan) Townsend of Conde and Colleen (Greg) Stratton of Sioux Falls; his sister, Delores Otwell of Pleasant Grove, Ala.; two sister-in-laws, Barb Feige of Madison and Delores Strang of Sioux Falls; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ernola Feige on May 18, 2006; one brother, Dale Feige of Madison; two sisters, Helen Ivankovich of Anaconda, Mont., and Viola Giles of Madison; one step-son, David Olson of Paullina Iowa; and two grandchildren.
