Funeral services for Anna F. Honken. 97, were held Monday, September 29, at First Congregational Church with Pastor David Linger officiating. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery with Winter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. ... Anna Florence Honken, daughter of Sidney and Anna (Okken) Green, was born in Winnebago County on July 24, 1900. She graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1918. Anna attended Iowa Falls Teachers College and taught 11 years incountry schools in Winnebago and Kossuth counties.
She was united in marriage lo John Honken on September 24. 1929 at Rockwell. To this union four children were bom. John and Anna lived at their farm until 1986 when they moved to the Park Oaks Home in Winnebago, Minnesota. Anna enjoyedfarm life, leaching Sunday" ..." <>

"John Honken, 87
Funeral services for John Honken, 87, of Buffalo Center were held Tuesday morning, October 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center with Rev. Steve Oeffling officiating. Interment was in Graceland Cemeterywith Winter Funeral Service in charge of arrangements. Mr. Honken died Saturday, October 10 at the United Hospital, Blue Earth, MN.
Casketbearers were Tom Shirer, Johnnie Wells, Rolfe Holtan, Marvin Nieman, Harvey Hugo and Frank Ullmann. Mrs. Greta Aukes was organist and Walter and Greta Aukes and Bruce Wubben sang.
John Honken was born December 16, 1899 on a farm near Titonka, Iowa to Peter and Annie (Salier) Honken.
He was married to Anna Green September 24,1929 at Rockwell, Iowa and together they farmed many years in the Buffalo Center area. John liked to garden and had a real love for horses. He was a very special husband, dad, grandfather andfriend and will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; one son, Clyde of Forest City, one daughter, Gloria, Mrs. Richard Hensel of Big Lake, MN; one son-in-law, Richard Nieman of Kanawha, two brothers, Andy of Manly and George of Seattle, WA; one sister,Katherine Crom of Duluth, MN; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Earnest, one daughter, Sadie, one daughter-in-law, Marie, two grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, three sisters and two brothers." <>
