Following marriage, the couple farmed in Kilborn Township, rural Twin Brooks from 1929 - 1995, when they moved to Milbank. Walter was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church.
Walter was received into God's Kingdom of Glory on June 1, 2000, at the age of 97 years, 3 months, and 4 days. In addition to his wife, Walter was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
