Note: Peter E Ebbenga Peter Ebbenga, son of Cornelius and Lena (Ackerman) Ebbenga, was obrn on November 6, 1916 in Worthington, MN. He moved with his family to Spirit lake Township, South Dakota, where he lived his youth and attended a country school. Thefamily later moved to Sibley, IA where Peter continued to live.
He was drafted into the US Army and received a medical discharge. He came home and took care of his parents and went with them to Brownsville, TX during the winter. After his parents passed away Peter continued to live in the family home.Peter worked as a carpenter. He never married.
He entered the Country View Manor of Sibley in 1988, where he passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 1999 at the age of 83 years and 11 days. Those left to cherish his memories are one sister; Kathryn Schmidt of Reading, MN; onesister-in-law Mae Ebbenga of Reading, MN several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 1 brother.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 20, 1999 at 10:30 am from the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, IA for Peter Ebbenga. Rev. Douglas Darnold officiated with organist Miriam Ernst. Serving as casket bearers were RodneyEbbenga, Randy Knuth, Jeff Rodgers, Tim Rodgers, Todd Rodgers and Duane Schram with internment in the Zoar Presbyterian church cemetery.
