"Funeral services for Gertie Boelim, 101, were held Saturday, May 23, 1:30 p.m. at First Reformed Church with Pastor Bill Peake officiating. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery with Winter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Marlene Krull was the organist and soloist was Warren Feldick. The congregation participated in the singing of a hymn. Honorary casketbearers were Charles Boelim, Daryl Boehni, Royce Eisenhauer, Larry Boehni, Harley Boehm, Lyle Winter,Gary Nerdig, Dquglas Boehm, Paul Schierbeck, and Daniel Boehm. Casketbearers were Gertie's sons: Fred, Otto, Carl, George, John, Robert and Dennis Boehm.
Gertie Boehm, daughter of Aggo and Stena (Spear) Janssen was born June 15, 1896 in Ramsey township near Bancroft. She was the eldest of 12 children.
On March 27, 1919, she was united in marriage to William Boehm at Germania, now Lakota.
Gertie attended country school in German township, Kossuth County. She helped her parents on the farm several years and later worked in the restaurant operated by Oscar and Carrie Price. She enjoyed baking, gardening and raising flowersduring her active years.
She was baptized and confirmed at Ramsey Reformed Church. Later she was a faithful member of First Reformed Church, Buffalo Center, being active in the Ladies Aid until her health failed.
On February 16, 1987, she became a resident of Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center after living at St. Luke's Lutheran Home in Blue Earth, Minnesota.
Gertie passed away at Timely Mission Nursing Home on Monday, May 18, 1998.
Gertie is survived by her ten children: Fred of Pound, Wisconsin; Otto and his wife, Dorothy; Pauline and her husband, Harold, Eisenhauer; Carl and his wife, Gretchen; George and his wife, Elaine; Irene Winter; Rosie and her husband,Harvey Nerdig, all of Buffalo Center; John and his wife, Juanita, of Benton, Illinois; Robert and his wife, Gracilc, of Hudsonvillc, Michigan and Dennis and his wife, Joan, of Greenville, South Carolina; 37 grandchildren; 83great-grandchildren; 14 great-greatgrandchildren; one sister, Stena Jutting of Humboldt; one brother, Robert Janssen of Buffalo Center and one sister-in-law, Fannie Janssen of Buffalo Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Edward Winter, four grandchildren: Dale and Jeffrey Winter and Donald and Ronald Boehm; one great-grandson, Allen Boehm; five brothers: Dick, Henry, John , Aggo and Ralph; threesisters: Tricntje, Tcna and Gesina and by an infant sibling." <>
