Funeral services were held Monday at the First Christian Reformed church of Wellsburg for Louis Meints, 34, who died Friday of histoplasmosis, a very rare tissue disease, at Iowa City. The Rev. Joseph Vande Keift was in charge of the service. Music was furnished by a men's quartet, Claus Primus, Harvey Eiten, Alfred Eiten and Robert Cooper. Mrs. Arthur Cooper was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Edward Mennenga and Mrs. Carl Reiter. Casketbearers were Chris Christians, Harry Eckhoff, Edward Mennenga, Emery Riekena, Carl Reiter and Herman J. Eckhoff. Burial was made in the cemetery beside the church.
Louis Meints was born Sept. 25, 1915, as the youngest child of Ludwig Meints and Flora Bakker Meints. He spent all of his life near the place of his birth on the Hardin-Grundy county line, four miles northeast of Steamboat Rock.
On April 20, 1938, he was united in marriage with Miss Pearl Heetland of Ackley. Into this home were born three children, Larry Paul, Dennis LuRae and Lois Jane. These all survive, also three brothers, Charles, George and Willie Meints of Steamboat Rock, and three sisters, Mrs. Peter B. Eckhoff of Wellsburg, Mrs. Dick Freese of Steamboat Rock and Mrs. Marvin Jeske of Eldora. Mr. Meints was a member of the Christian Reformed church of Wellsburg.
