Obituary Of Johann Tapper
Mr. Johann Tapper was born in Germany on January 18, 1875. At the age of 12 years he with his family came to the United States and settled in Hamilton County, Iowa.
On December 30, 1902, he was united in marriage to Harmka Stoppelmoor. To this union were born 12 children. One of the sons, Johann, was killed in action in World War II on June 16, 1944.
A few years after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Tapper moved to Minnesota where they lived for 9 years. With the exception of 6 years they have since lived in Kossuth County.
Mr. Tapper passed away in the Hancock County Memorial Hospital at Britt at about 6:00 a.m. on Monday, April 8, at the age of 82 years, 2 months, and 21 days. He is survived by his wife and 11 children - Hilka, Mrs. Dick Meyer of Algona;Walter of Buffalo Center; John of Vinton; Mary Mrs. Norris rousseau of Algona; Lydia, Mrs. Everett O. Rippentrop of Swea City; Herman of Clear Lake; Minnie, Mrs. Jim McQuiston of Cedar Rapids; Esther, Mrs. Harm Huisinga; Henrietta, Mrs.James Reed of Cedar Rapids; Lillie, Mrs. Raymond Greene of Cedar Rapids; and Donald of Buffalo Center. Other survivors to mourn his passing include 1 brother, Jake Tapper of Webster City, 28 grand children, and 4 great grand children.
Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, April 11, in the Tapper home and in the Ramsey Reformed Church with the pastor; Rev. William Kroon, in charge. Burial was in the Ramsey Cemetery. ..."
