Hi All, The following link is for the obituary of my sister, Charlene, who passed on last thursday. It's been a rough week, especially since I wasn't able to be with her, or the family since her motorcycle accident last September. Hope you're all well.

Char was born July 7, 1951, in Sumner, Iowa, to Orville and Maxine (Christopherson) Naber. She graduated from Houston High School, Minn., in 1969 and was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Paul Hegland,on Aug. 16, 1969. The couple moved to Hiawatha, Iowa, in 1974 and built their lives together there. Char was a natural with children and took great pride in raising her own, spoiling her grandchildren, and being like a mother and mentorto countless others. She worked at McLeod Academy and Summit Schools as an operations manager where she was affectionately known by many as "the heart of the school," and most recently at Rockwell Collins as a senior administrativeassistant. It did not take her long to become the "go to" person at each place she worked, just as she has always been to her family and friends. She always had a ready solution to any problem and knew just how to get things done whereothers dared not tread. Char was the creative brains behind her husband's custom cobbling, and together they made the perfect team. She had a passion for traveling and shared that joy by leading five groups of students on trips toAustralia and traveling the world with her family and friends. She had a great love of life and for people, and with her wonderful sense of humor, never missed an opportunity to laugh with others. Char helped so many and made an impact ontheir lives for the better. She will be sincerely missed by all who knew her.

"On Sunday 9/28/2008, while riding their motorcycles, Paul and Charlene Hegland hit a deer on their bikes. Paul is fortunate enough to walk away.
Char suffered a sever head trauma. Swelling usually doesn't peak for 3-5 days so we really don't know where we stand. Aside from the head injury there is a slight fracture to the pelvis, a sprained finger, and some damage to ligaments inthe neck which should heal in 6-8 weeks. No damage to spinal column detected, she responds to pain and moves all extremities. The first step in treatment is controlling the swelling of the brain. This could take some time, but we willupdate here as soon as we get information.
