Leader, Leroy, e-mail 1 to David A. Navorska, (Pub. location unknown, LL, xvi May MMVI) "... I came across a couple of things that were new to me; perhaps, they are to you, too: Ashland -- Graveside services were held this morning at 11:00 a.m. for Margaret Grosmehr, 96, at the Strickland Twin Cemeteries by the Rev. Homer E. Graven. Mrs. Grosmehr died Sunday at Collins Nursing Home, Hayseville. -- The Mansfield News, 01 Jun 1976 ... [Sunday was 30 May] ... For Charles Grosmehr: WW I draft registration, 1917-1918 -- birthdate 03 Oct 1881, patrolman, City of Cleveland, registered 12 Sep 1918 Leroy"
Before leaving Deutschland for these United States, the Ebel family obtained copies of birth documents for Margaret & her brother, Peter. I have photostatic copies of these documents.

"... For Charles Grosmehr: The 1910 census shows Charles was a policeman for the city of Cleveland. His parents were born in Germany. Charles' age was shown as 28 and Hattie's as 25. They had been married for one year and had no children. They were living at 3607Marvin Ave., SW. (Cuyahoga Co., OH, E.D. 114, sheet 10A, 20 Apr 1910) I didn't copy the article, but an item in the Chronicle Telegram notes that they had a summer cottage on the Vermillion River and entertained friends there. Leroy"

"... Margaret Grosmehr was my mother's first cousin. Familysearch.org has Matthias Kallmer as the father of Anna. The birthdate of 03 Mar 1850 is as I have it in my data. I found the following and added it to my notes on Anna: TONDERN, a town of Germany, in the Prussian province of Schieswig-Hoistein, on the Widane, 8 m. from the North Sea at Hoyer, opposite the island of Sylt, and 42 m. by rail N.W from Flensburg. Pop. (1900),4244. Tondem was in early days aseaport, but since the reclamation of the marshes and the dredging of the Widane, navigation has ceased and vessels load and unload at Hoyer, with which the place has direct railway communication. The trade consists chiefly inagricultural produce and cattle, and there is an important horse market. Leroy" <>
