LifeSketch: Harriet Bradshaw was born 7 Jan 1809 in Sheffield Green, Warwickshire, England to John Bradshaw Jr. and Mary Vaughn. It is not known if there were other children in that family. trade. They probably made their first home in Birmingham as the first child of their eleven children, Eliza Burton, was born there on 25 Jul 1830. They then lived in Coventry, Warwickshire, England and to them was born Harriet on 7 Nov 1832. Eliza only lived five years and died 15 Jul 1835, just a month before the birth of their first son, Edwin, who was born 15 Aug 1835. Then Alice was born 4 Jul 1838, William Henry on 7 Sept. 1840 and Mary on 14 Jun 1843.s. They soon started to plan and save so they could go to America and Zion.b 1848.hen she went into the room she couldn't get her father to answer, and being a young child didn't realize what was wrong, so she went back to her mother telling her, "Father doesn't answer me." Hearing this, Harriet rushed in and found her husband dead.or Harrriet. In a state of bewilderment she went to the mission president and he advised her to go on with her plans of going to America, so she signed to come on the ship Hartley 22 Jan 1850.riving in Liverpool on 17 Feb 1850, she gave birth to twins, a daughter Sarah and a son John. On 28 Feb 1850, when the twins were only ten day old, Harriet and her nine children left Liverpool for New Orleans in the care of William Broadhead.o wait and bury her baby in New Orleans. She then traveled to Winter Quarters with some of the other saints. Within 3 months after arriving there, three more of her children, Sarah, Eliza Rebecca, and Emma died. Sarah died 16 Aug 1850, Eliza Rebecca on 8 Oct 1850, and Emma on 31 Oct 1850. Harriet, in her records, wrote that the last two, Eliza Rebecca and Emma, were buried in "Bluffs." Whether it was Council Bluffs, or in the bluffs along the trail, we do not know.planned for this woman, but again her faith was tested one day when 15-year old Edwin went to the post office and never was heard from again. The only clue they ever had was that a boy answering his description, but with a broken leg, was seen on a ship returning to England.s searched extensively for Edwin to no avail. Edwin's disappearance still remains a mystery. the Mark Hall company in 1852. There, she did sewing for Brigham Young's family, a trade she learned while helping her husband who was a tailor in England.ander Hill 27 Dec 1852, but this sealing was canceled by Pres. Alice died 2 Dec 1867.ng concerning Harriet Bradshaw Burton's death: She said that after her grandmother left Salt lake City and moved to Springville, she lived in a house Mable's father, James Diamond, had built next to his. Harriet would come over each evening to her daughter Mary Ann's for the evening meal. On a Friday she asked Mable to go to town and get her a bat for a quilt but Mable was busy and didn't want to go, but grandma Burton insisted. They helped her put the quilt on Saturday and that night she didn't come over for the evening meal and on Sunday she did not feel well enough to go to church. This made her feel very, very unhappy. Monday she sewed on the quilt and on Tuesday Mary Ann went over to see how she was feeling and found her lying unconscious from a stroke.ed 17 Jun 1889 at the age of 80 and was buried in the Springville City Cemetery.
