   Also known as: Reverend Thomas BARCLAY, first rector of St Peter's Church at Albany, NY
   LifeSketch: The Scottish Barclays by Leslie Barclay, page 591. He served heir to his fthet and grandfather in 1708, but did not take possession of any portion of the lands and barony of Collairnie, which were then in the hands of his cousin John Barclay. On 25th February 1683-4, he matriculated at St. Salvator's College, St. Andrew's University, and graduated M.A. June 1688. In 1705-6 he was tutor to Archibald, first and last Duke of Douglas. He took orders, and was ordained Deacon 22nd May, and Presbyter 31st May 1707, by the Right Reverend Henry Compton, Bishop of London, and on the latter date he also signed the Act of Uniformity. He went to America, and landed in Boston in the November following. On 9th June 1708 he was appointed Military Chaplain at Fort Orange, Albany, New York, and was instrumental in effecting the building of St. Peter's Episcopal Church there, completed 25th November 1717, of which he was the first Rector, and also missionary among the Mohawk Indians until his retirement in 1727. The Baron died between June and 1st November, 1734.ter's Church in Albany, according to the King's College alumni book entry on Thomas Barclay, class of 1772.at it is not true.
